With our fickle Michigan weather, who knows, maybe you'll even take it for a ride this winter. You won't find a more affordable and convenient option for your motorcycle storage in the Ypsilanti and Belleville area. Please call U-Lock-It Self Storage today to learn about our 10 X 10 unit availability. In the meantime, here are a couple of motorcycle storage tips. 1. Don't Forget Fuel Stabilizer After filling your tank with fuel, add the optimal amount of fuel stabilizer. Doing this will protect your carburetor's parts from gas that has deteriorated. Don't forget to let your bike run for a couple of minutes after adding the fuel stabilizer. 2. Time for an Oil Change Engine oil changes over time, and not for the better. Make sure you change out your oil before storage to avoid any erosion or damage. Also, don't forget to change the filter plug while you're at it. 3. Avoid Sun Damage With our 10 x 10 units Sun in the winter? Yes, we do have an occasional sunny day, which can spell bad news for motorcycles stored near a window. Our 10 x 10 storage units will protect your bike from sunlight that can damage leather and fade paint. We also suggest using a fitted cover for your bike. 4. Clean and Wax Protect your motorcycle from any moisture damage by giving it a good clean and wax before putting it in storage. Just make sure your bike is dry before applying the wax. We hope these tips are helpful, and we look forward to keeping your motorcycle safe and secure during winter storage.

As we enjoy the final weeks of fall, it's time to start preparing for winter. From winter tires to purchasing salt for your sidewalk, winter can be a lot of work. Winter can also be cluttered. As we start to spend more time inside, it's essential to stay organized. One way to accomplish this is to consider self-storage in our Ypsilanti storage facility. While self-storage is a great option year-round to declutter, it's particularly useful in the winter. Here are typical items people tend to store in the colder months: Lawn Furniture - While it's sad to see your lawn chairs and tables go, you'll ensure they aren't damaged by cold and wet weather. Summer Clothing - Yes, there are the occasional Michiganders who will be caught with shorts on in forty-degree weather, but for the rest of us, it's time to put away your summer clothes. We recommend storing them in plastic bins, which will protect quality. Doing this will open up much-needed drawer space for sweaters. Lawn care equipment - It's time to swap those lawnmowers for snowblowers. Keep your spring/summer lawn care equipment safe and out of the way with self-storage. Decorations - Our self-storage units are great for keeping your summer and fall holiday decorations safe. Small vehicles - From motorcycles to ATVs, our storage facility is a secure and convenient place to store vehicles that don't see much use in the winter. We know that in Michigan, the weather fluctuates, which is why our 24-hour gate access allows you to access your items when needed. We look forward to assisting you with your winter storage needs. Please call U-Lock-It today. October is in full foliage here in Southeast Michigan, and we wanted to share some lovely photos from our facilities. We are blessed to live in the Belleville/Ypsilanti area, where fall is a special and colorful time of year. October is also the perfect time of year to consider storing your summer and fall items to prepare for our long and arduous winter. From lawn furniture to lawnmowers, make room in your garage and closets with the help of our affordable and secure storage options.
Please call us today or stop in at our office on Rawsonville Road. We look forward to meeting you! Have a great fall weekend, folks. Here at U-Lock-It Self Storage Belleville, your safety and security are our priority. To help make sure your self-storage experience is a good one, we have certain restrictions and suggestions on what you can and cannot put in your units. Below are a couple of items you shouldn't put in self-storage. Food or Scented Items Storing food in your storage unit can cause trouble for more than just yourself. Food draws the attention of critters such as mice, which can affect the whole facility. Drawing these unwanted creatures can cause damage to not only your food, but other stored items (as well as the items of other tenants). Scented items that aren’t edible can still attract critters, so we advise against storing such items in your unit. Please do us ALL a favor and don’t store food in your unit. Anything Hazardous Before storing a questionable item, please ask yourself “could this cause harm to anyone?” If yes, then please don’t store it in your unit. Hazardous material covers a wide range of items from propane tanks to fireworks to pesticides and paint. If it can catch fire, cause fumes, explode, etc., then you shouldn’t put it in storage. This is for the safety of everyone involved, which is why we take it so seriously. Animals and Plants Please do not store anything that’s alive in your unit. Regarding pets, it’s against the law and cruel to put them in storage and should never be considered. As for plants, they most likely won’t live long without access to sunlight and water, so you’d be smart to not keep them in your unit. Valuable and Sentimental Items While we offer 24-hour surveillance and random security checks at our Belleville self-storage facility, we advise against storing something you can’t afford to lose. This includes jewelry, coins, art, or sentimental items such as photo albums. Here at U-Lock-It, we do offer insurance with your unit, but some things aren’t replaceable and not worth the risk. Keep in mind that these are but a few suggestions, and we’d be happy to talk with you about items about which you are uncertain. We want to make sure your experience at U-Lock-It Self Storage Belleville is a happy one, and that starts with storing the right items. Please call us today if you have any questions! |
