For those who like to travel in comfort, RVs offer a home away from home wherever you decide to wander. Hitting the open road in an RV is one of the best ways to see our beautiful country. But RVs take up a lot of space, and tend to get seasonal use, so how should owners store their RVs? Whether you're a new or seasoned RV owner, we hope these tips will help you properly store your RV. Choose The Right RV Storage Facility Finding the right place to store your RV depends on many factors. An RV is an investment, so you'll want to make sure it is secure in storage. Before you type in "RV storage near me" on Google, make sure you know your budget, size of your RV, and how long you plan on storing it at the facility. The location will be important, as you won't want to travel too far to take it out for a weekend. Also, consider a storage facility that offers 24-hour gate access. That way, you'll be able to take your RV out whenever you please (we know how those impulsive travel urges go). U-Lock-It Self Storage Belleville offers a safe, accessible, and affordable outdoor storage option for your RV. No Free Rides RVs are comfortable and convenient for people, but critters might also want to take a ride. Give your RV a thorough once over for any signs of mice, bugs, or, goodness forbid, something larger. Check drawers, under counters, and even pop the hood. Other than spreading germs, unwanted critters can cause some severe damage to your RV. For example, mice can chew through wires, which might even pose a fire hazard. Double-check and adequately seal all windows, doors, vents, and anywhere else that might make for an opening to wildlife. Don't underestimate the tenacity of a mouse. Clean Until it Looks Like New After a summer of road trips, your RV might be looking a bit messy. While it's convenient to park your RV at a local outdoor self-storage facility and say, "I'll worry about it in the spring," we suggest you give it a thorough cleaning before storing it for several months. Clean out all drawers, including bathroom medicine cabinets. Cold weather could lead to leftover toothpaste and other bathroom items to freeze and break, causing a mess. As mentioned in the critter section, don't leave any food in your cupboards or the fridge. No, that ketchup and mustard won't be good next summer. Scrub the inside of your fridge, microwave, or any other built-in food preparer with water and appropriate cleaner. You won't want to find a mold problem when you take it out of storage. Read these tips for maintaining your RV for a winter trip if you decide to take it out in the snow. Take Cover! No matter how good your tires look, there's a chance that the weather is taking its toll even if you aren't using your RV. Avoid weather cracking on your tires with a cover. Check out this list of the best RV tire covers. Over time, the sun can damage furniture, so make sure you put your blinds down before leaving your RV in storage. Engine maintenance You can't expect to leave your RV in storage long-term and then have it up and running if you skip engine maintenance. Before putting your RV in storage, change its oil, check the antifreeze levels, and add fuel stabilizer. Remember to run the engine so that this stabilizer can make its way through the system. You'll want to check back every couple of months and run the engine on idle for a while. We hope this list is a good starting point for those looking to store their RVs. Please consult the vehicle's manual for additional tips and procedures. Don't hesitate to call U-Lock-It Self Storage Belleville to learn about our outdoor units.

I appreciate that this post shared that before keeping our RV in a self storage unit compatible for RVs, it is important for us to clean our RV thoroughly. It makes sense for us to have our RVs cleaned as it is part of the maintenance. Before I send my RV to the self storage unit, I will definitely look into having it properly and professionally cleaned.

I appreciated it when you shared that it is important to change the oil and add a fuel stabilizer before putting your RV in storage. My uncle just mentioned the other day that he needs to store his RV somewhere as he is going to stay with his son who is living in another country for a month. I will suggest to him looking for a reliable place that can help store his vehicle safely.

It was really helpful when you said to consider your budget when finding a storage unit. My husband and I are wanting to look into storing our RV in a couple of weeks since we don't use it as much as we used to, and we want to make sure that we can store it correctly. We'll make sure to keep these tips in mind as we search for a storage facility to rent.

My brother has been thinking about getting the right storage for his RV because he wants to be safe while it isn't being used. He would really like to get some help from a professional that can keep it in the right area. I liked what you said about how he should make sure to clean every out of the RV, and remove any food to prevent mold in the area.

I'm glad you mentioned how you should consider finding an RV storage facility that will allow you to access your vehicle whenever you want. My wife and I are interested in storing our RV until we move to our new home this weekend, but we want to make sure that we will be able to access it when we go on our camping trip this weekend. Hopefully, we can find a storage facility that we will be able to visit at any time.

My wife thinks finding a storage place is easy but I am like you and need to know the budget, the size of my RV, and how long I'll be leaving it there. I don't want to drive around trying to find one that has a storage unit that will fit my RV. Planning ahead could save me a bunch of headaches and gas money.

I really like your tip to make sure that there aren't any mice or bugs or anything hiding out in the drawers and stuff. My wife and I got an RV this summer for camping but now we need to figure out what to do with it in the winter. I think we will go with a storage unit but not before giving it a deep clean and making sure there aren't any pests.

Thank you for your tips on preparing your RV for storage. I agree that it would be smart to clean it properly. I think it would also be very important to have any issues repaired beforehand so they don't get worse while in storage.

I like how you mentioned that it is important to consider the importance of the location for your RV. My uncle mentioned to me that he and his friend are hoping to find an RV storage unit for our camp next week and asked if I have any idea what is the best option to do. Thanks to this informative article and I'll be sure to tell him that they can consult a well-known RV storage unit service as they can answer all their inquiries and will keep the RV safe.

I never considered unwanted critters climbing into the RV. I need to store my RV for the winter since we won't be using it. I'll have to make sure that it is completely cleaned out first.

It got me when you said that the location where we will store our RV is important, as we won't want to travel too far to take it out for a weekend. This is helpful because my husband and I have busy work schedules for the next three months. With this, we are hoping to find a safe place near our area where we can store our RV at an affordable rate.

It helped when you shared that we should make sure to cover our RV when storing it since the weather can damage the components of an RV. My friend wants to store her RV on her property. She's even thinking of installing an RV gate to ensure its security.

It was helpful when you said to consider the location and your budget. My husband and I want to store our RV in a storage unit for the rest of fall and winter since we aren't using it as much as we do in the summer. We'll keep these tips in mind as we search for a storage unit it can stay in until summer.

Thanks for pointing out that we need to get every part of the RV cleaned before putting it into storage so that there would be no cause of mold and more. I will share this tip with my husband because we need to put away that vehicle for the time-being until it is summer. It's because we need to free up space in our garage for other items we need at the moment.
